OLEAN, N.Y. – The Kutztown University men's rugby team battled back from behind to win its regular season finale 52-39 at St. Bonaventure yesterday, Sunday, Nov. 11.
The Golden Bears finished the fall season 4-2 overall.
Trailing 7-0 after just two minutes, KU tallied two consecutive tries by
Lucas Ortner (Melbourne, Australia/Box Hill) to take a 14-10 lead after 12 minutes, a lead it would not relinquish.
Gerald Lowe (Pretoria, South Africa/Die Hoerskool Menlopark),
Ryan Nolan (Drogheda, Ireland/Drogheda) and
Angel Santiago (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) all tacked on tries in the first half to give the Maroon and Gold a 33-20 advantage at the intermission.
Aaron Gray (Washington, D.C./Perry Street Prep) scored twice in the second half and
Daquan Perry (Philadelphia, Pa./Conestoga) added a try to close out the game.
Thorne O'Connell (Johannesburg, South Africa/Jeppe) added three conversions and Nolan had two.
