Jones inducted into Collegiate Rugby Championship Hall of Fame

BOYDS, Md. -- Legendary Kutztown University head men's rugby coach Dr. Gregg A. Jones, affectionately known as "Doc," was inducted into the Collegiate Rugby Championship Hall of Fame as part of its third annual class this past Saturday, April 25. The ceremony was part of CRC National 7s championship weekend.

Jones is Kutztown's first representative to be enshrined, while also holding distinction as just the second coach inducted into the CRC Hall of Fame.

Jones has presided over the Golden Bears for the last four decades, transforming the program into a blue blood of college rugby, particularly in 7s. Following a third place finish at last weekend's national tournament, Kutztown has reached nine quarterfinals, eight final fours and four finals in 12 all-time CRC National 7s appearances, all under Jones' leadership.

In 2022, Jones led the Maroon and Gold to its first-ever CRC 7s national championship, a 17-12 victory over Dartmouth, in suburban New Orleans. Kutztown ended Lindenwood's three-year championship run in the semifinals en route to the title.

Joining Jones as 2026 CRC Hall of Fame inductees were Life University's Darian Lovelace, the University of Delaware's Chris Mattina and Lindenwood University's Richelle Stephens.
