No. 8 Field Hockey Extends Win Streak to Eight with 5-0 Win at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team won its eighth consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, downing the Seton Hill University Griffins 5-0 on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.

KU's (9-1, 2-0 PSAC) eight-game winning streak matches the longest for the program since the 2008 season. Surrendering just one shot to the Griffins, Kutztown has now allowed a combined four shots in its last 280:00 of action, a stretch of four complete games.

The Maroon and Gold continued to display their attacking style against SHU, firing off a total of 30 shots, 19 of which were on target. Following a flurry of first-half shots, Mackenzie Furhman's goal at the 32:31 mark started the scoring barrage for Kutztown.

The floodgates then opened for the Golden Bears in the second half as Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) and Kyra Wozniak (Plains, Pa./James M. Coughlin) both netted tallies in the first seven minutes. Trinity Ponton (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) then made it 4-0 in favor of KU, scoring with just over 20 minutes left in the game. Wozniak added her second goal of the game off a deflected shot from Izzy Radel (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) later to finalize the 5-0 victory for head coach Marci Scheuing's club.

Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) earned the win for Kutztown, taking her record to 9-1 and lowering her PSAC-leading goals against average to .47.

As of today's final whistle, Wozniak's two goals, which improve her season total to 13, cement her as the current Division-II leader in total goals. The goals for Ponton was her first of the season. Leigh Roselli (Romansville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) assisted on Fuhrman's goal with Fuhrman adding an assist on Wozniak's first tally. Kutztown, the PSAC-leader in penalty corners, was effective in drawing set pieces once again, totaling 14 penalty corners against SHU.

KU will be back on the road in its next contest, taking on the Millersville University Marauders at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
