Moyer Surpasses 1,000 Kills at KU in 3-2 Defeat at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Brittney Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain (Lock Haven)) notched career kill No. 1,000 as a Golden Bear in the second set of the Kutztown University women's volleyball team's 3-2 defeat to the first-place East Stroudsburg University Warriors on Tuesday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.

Moyer recorded 10 kills and 21 digs on the evening, eclipsing the 1,000-kill milestone with three matches remaining on the season. The Orwigsburg-native has played four years in the PSAC, including her freshman season at Lock Haven, and has totaled 1,304 kills in her career. Moyer now sits eighth all-time at KU with 1,005 kills in Maroon and Gold.

Kutztown (10-17,3-14 PSAC) hung tough against East Stroudsburg (20-8, 10-6), pushing the tilt with Southeast Division-leading ESU to five sets. After winning sets three and four to extend the match, the Golden Bears led late in the fifth set, but were clipped by a 7-3 Warrior run to finish off the match.

Holly Owen (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) posted 22 kills to lead the KU attack, adding four blocks on the defensive end. Niki Carpenter (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion Area) continues to be a force for the Maroon and Gold at the net, totaling a team-high eight blocks in five sets. Kutztown's block was effective throughout the match, out-blocking ESU 12.0-11.0.

Abbey James (York, Pa./West York Area) recorded 27 assists and nine digs with Amanda Meck (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) adding 13 assists and six digs. Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) dished out seven assists and racked up 20 digs on the backline to move her career total 1,139 digs, sixth all-time at KU.
