MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team traveled to Millersville University for a road contest in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to begin its final weekend of play in 2018, falling to the Marauders 3-0 on Friday evening.
Holly Owen (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was outstanding offensively for the Maroon and Gold, totaling 10 kills and hitting an efficient .360 on the outside.
Brittney Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain (Lock Haven)) supported Owen with six kills, moving her career total to 1,111 kills, sixth all-time at KU.
Lilly Charlton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) and
Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) combined for eight kills, posting four a piece from their right-side positions.
Amanda Meck (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) led the setting effort with 13 assists while
Abbey James (York, Pa./West York Area) added 10 assists.
Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) totaled a team-high 12 digs, moving her career total to 1,151 digs, sixth-all time at KU.
Alli Henderson (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area), playing in a defensive specialist role, racked up eight digs on the backline.
The strong blocking presence of KU continues to be a theme this season as the Golden Bears outblocked MU 6.0-5.0.
Both sides were successful on the offensive end with KU and MU hitting .189 and .312, respectively, but the Marauder offense proved too much in the end. Millersville, having clinched a PSAC Tournament berth in its last match, totaled 49 kills compared to Kutztown's 30.
The Golden Bears, who perhaps delivered their best performance of the season against West Chester on Oct. 12, will face off with WCU again for their final PSAC match of 2018 tomorrow at 12 p.m. on the road. Kutztown will then match up with Virginia State at 2:30 p.m. for a non-conference affair to conclude its 2018 schedule.
