No. 8 Women's Soccer Clipped 1-0 on the Road at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team suffered just its first defeat of the month of October, dropping a one-goal game to Seton Hill University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

The Golden Bears (13-3 overall, 11-3) had their second six-game win streak of the season before the Griffins (11-4-1, 10-4-1) used a first-half goal to get the better of the Maroon and Gold.

Kutztown is nationally-ranked and for a span of three weeks earlier this season, both teams were ranked in the top-25 in Division II at the same time.

The teams were near identical in shots, with KU holding a slight edge, outshooting Seton Hill 15-14 overall in the game, but sometimes one is all that is needed, and the Griffins had their breakthrough in the 33rd minute when Alyssa Neast found the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winner.

Junior goalie Jenna Bracken (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) finished with two saves. Emily Zwiercan (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) had a team-high five shots on goal for KU.

That was the final PSAC road contest of the regular season for Kutztown. KU will host the league's first-place team Bloomsburg University (12-2-1, 11-2-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. at Keystone Field. It will then wrap up season-play on Saturday, Oct. 27 against Pitt-Johnstown on Senior Day.

Kutztown is just one point behind the Huskies for first place in the PSAC. Millersville, whom KU defeated 2-1 back on Sept. 12, is tied with Kutztown with 33 points, but is in third due to the head-to-head matchup.
