Women’s Volleyball Uses Team Effort to Down Cheyney

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – 11 different Golden Bears recorded at least one kill in the match as the Kutztown University women's volleyball team cruised to a sweep of the Cheyney University Wolves on Monday evening in non-conference action. 
 
KU hit .352 in the match, posting 33 kills on 71 attempts. Individually, Abby Daniels (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) led KU with a season-high seven kills, hitting .294 on 17 attacks. Alli Henderson (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) and Shannon Robicheau (Easton, Pa./Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts) each added five kills a-piece to round out the Maroon and Gold's top-three attackers. 
 
Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area), Holly Owen (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), Brittney Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain (Lock Haven)), Aly Bohman (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus), Niki Carpenter (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion Area), Haylee Holsopple (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) and Lilly Charlton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) each recorded kills to complete Kutztown's offensive output. 
 
Sarah Williams (Pikesville, Md./Home-School) and Abbey James (York, Pa./West York Area) dished out 11 assists each and Amanda Meck (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) added six assists. Tori Pascucci (Auburn, Pa./Schuylkill Haven Area) had one assist and added three digs. Henderson collected a team-high 12 digs with Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) posting seven in support. As a team, KU racked up 11 service aces paced by four each from Moyer and Williams. 
 
Head coach John Gump was able to get all 18 of his available players on the floor in the match. It was the first notable playing time of the season for both Sophie Kerschner (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) and Paige Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax (Harrisburg Area C.C)), whom played in two and three sets, respectively. 
 
The Golden Bears will hit the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action this weekend, taking on Indiana (PA) and Clarion on Oct. 19-20.
