KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The undefeated, 4-0 Kutztown University football team made it into the national spotlight, voted 23rd in the week five American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll, released Monday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (4-0 overall, 1-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division) appear in the national poll for the first time since September 10, 2012, when they were ranked No. 21.
Kutztown has won all four of its games this season, and has not lost since Oct. 28, 2017, sporting a six-game win streak over the last two seasons.
KU is coming off a 44-10 East Division victory over Bloomsburg University last Saturday, Sept. 30. It delivered its most complete effort of the season, dominating the Huskies on both sides of the ball. The offense rolled up 488 total yards, scoring six touchdowns, four of which came in the first half. On the defensive end, the Maroon and Gold gave up just 196 yards and one score.
The league office has rewarded the Golden Bears for the fourth straight week.

Luke Snyder (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) were named PSAC East Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively. They joined Reynolds from week one,
Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) week two and
Eric Nickel (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and
Dean Krcic (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) after week three as KU players to earn the honors.
Minnesota State remains as the top-ranked team. Grand Valley State takes over in the No. 2 spot after IUP's loss to California (PA) last weekend. Ferris State, Midwestern State and West Georgia round out the top-five. West Chester (5-0) appears at No. 13 and IUP (4-1) dropped to No. 14.
Kutztown hits the road next weekend for its second PSAC East contest, traveling to take on East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, Oct. 6 in another night game at 6:05 p.m.
