KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Five Kutztown University wrestlers won both of their matches Saturday to lead the Golden Bears to two wins and cap the second annual Kutztown University Duals with an undefeated record for the second-straight season at Keystone Arena.
Kutztown (5-6) opened the day with a 22-14 win over UNC Pembroke, and followed with a 31-16 win over Minot State.
The first three lightweight classes swept their matches in both meets.
Austin Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) won an 8-5 decision over Pembroke and pinned Minot State in the first period (1:49) to push his winning streak to five.
Christopher Crane (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and
Anthony Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) turned in strong performances at 133 and 141 pounds. Crane fought through a tough 4-2 decision to open the day, and followed Au. Petril's fall with one of his own – coming in 2:33.

Mikey O'Brien (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn).
Nationally-ranked heavyweight
Ryan Appleby (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) bounced back from a defeat Friday night with two wins on Saturday. He opened with a 28-12 tech. fall over UNC Pembroke – the most points he's scored in a match in his career - and ended Saturday with a 7-4 decision over Minot State.
KU led 10-0 in the UNC Pembroke match and never looked back. In addition to O'Brien and Appleby, freshman
Dominic Mainiero (Nutley, N.J./Queen of Peace) won a 10-1 major decision at 197.
Kutztown's lead ballooned to 24-0 vs. Minot State. Following KU's three lightweight wins,
Austin Scrivani (Layton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) made a spot-start and pinned his opponent at 149 pounds in 1:42.
James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) won a 13-2 major decision at 174 to highlight KU's weekend finale.
The Golden Bears return to action on Friday, Feb. 2, with a road match at East Stroudsburg University beginning at 7 p.m.
