KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University wrestling team won eight of its 10 matches on its way to a 43-9 victory in its only match on day one of the second annual Kutztown University Duals Friday night in Keystone Arena.
James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and
Evan Kauffman (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom (Lehigh)) both won their matches, with Meyer winning by a major decision 10-2 at 174 and Kauffman edging out his match by winning in a 7-4 decision at 197.
Kutztown won six matches by forfeit, including the first three bouts to hold an 18-0 lead early on. AIC was victorious in the next match at 149, the first that two wrestlers were on the mat. KU received two forfeits in the next two matches at 157 and 165, and then Meyer recorded the major decision at 174.
After a sixth forfeit at 184, Kauffman wrestled to the victory and a 7-4 decision at 197.

Ryan Appleby (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) had an early lead over Jenard Rosemond, but Rosemond stormed back, scoring six of his seven points in the third round to win 285 match 7-6.
Day two of the Kutztown University Duals begins tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. The Maroon and Gold first wrestle at 12:30 a.m. against UNC Pembroke before finishing the weekend versus Minot State at 2 p.m.
