KUTZTOWN, Pa. –The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team fought valiantly against No. 19 Indiana (PA), erasing a four-goal deficit to comeback and tie the game, but the Maroon and Gold ultimately fell to the Crimson Hawks 10-7 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Field.

Courtney O'Neill (Stratford, N.J./Sterling),
Haley Romoser (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) and
Abby Cox (York, Pa./West York) for Senior Day prior to the match.
With the final seconds winding down on her home career, O'Neill forced a late turnover to become KU's single-season record-holder with 39.
That caused turnover gave O'Neill a game-high four for the afternoon. She also ended the contest with a game-high seven groundballs, moving her into a tie for fourth in single-season history with 58.
Cox got the start in net and made three saves, while Romoser helped anchor the defense and recorded a groundball.
Indiana (10-5, 9-2 PSAC) started the game off fast as it scored four unanswered goals in the first 12:29 of action but Kutztown responded fiercely, answering with four unanswered goals of its own to tie the game up at 4-4 with 8:09 left in the first half.
An
Emily Leeb (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) goal was sandwiched between a pair of
Lauren Schmidt (Hanover, Pa./South Western) goals before
Sarah Gabriele (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) tallied the tying score.
After IUP notched a late first-half goal with 5:32 left, the Golden Bears were in striking distance only down 5-4 entering the second half.
The Crimson Hawks came out of the break quickly though, scoring three goals in succession early on to take a commanding 8-4 lead with 24:38 left in the contest.
After trading goals, the Golden Bears (7-8, 3-7) made a late push with scores by
Lauren Huggins (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and Gabriele to bring the score to 9-7 with 9:37 to go, but IUP notched a late insurance goal to close out the game, 10-7.
In addition to her two goals, Gabriele added an assist to move into a tie for first in program history with 162 career points. Her two goals gave her 43 for the year to move her into fourth in single-season history.
Huggins second half score moved her into eighth all-time with 74 career goals, while she also caused a turnover to move into fourth all-time with 63 for her career.
Notably,
Emily Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert Catholic) tallied two draw controls to move into sixth all-time with 86 for her career.
The Golden Bears will travel to face Bloomsburg University in a PSAC matchup this Wednesday, April 22. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
