KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team will look to add on to its four-game win streak when Bowie State University comes to Keystone Arena for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
The Golden Bears (6-1 overall, 3-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) won both of their conference games last weekend, a 72-69 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday, Dec. 2, and a 67-62 victory against Gannon the following day. KU has now won four games in a row, including the last three by a combined nine points, showing its ability to close in tightly-contested games.
Kutztown has been led by redshirt-junior
Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington), who is scoring a career-high 20.9 points per game (ppg). He notched a team-high 18 points, and eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau along the way in the win against the Golden Knights on Sunday. He is the 26th player in KU history to reach the milestone.
Lee was tabbed as the PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Dec. 4. His three-game week included averaging 20 ppg, shooting 62.1 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from 3-point range. He also had five of his 21 steals (2nd in PSAC) during that three-game stretch.
Lee, along with senior
Ethan Ridgeway (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) (20.0 ppg), are the only duo in the PSAC averaging 20 or more ppg. The two are also fourth and fifth in the PSAC in free-throw percentage, with Lee shooting 94.7 percent and Ridgeway 94.4 percent. Ridgeway is also first in the conference, dishing out 7.3 assists per game.
Junior
Dan Cuevas (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) is the third Golden Bears player to average double-digits in scoring (16.8 ppg). He has scored in double-figures in all six games played this season, and is 11th in the PSAC, going 16-of-19 (84.2) from the free-throw line.
Redshirt-freshman
Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) is averaging 7.3 ppg and leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per game (rpg), and is also fifth in the PSAC with 1.3 blocks per game (8 total). Senior
Rafiq Marshall (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz (Cheyney)) is contributing 6.4 ppg and had a season-high in minutes played (30) in the last game against Gannon.
Kutztown is third in the league in scoring offense (86.0 ppg) and margin of victory (+11.9), first in field goal percentage (52.0) and second in 3-point percentage (39.5).
Bowie State (5-4) opened its season losing four-of-five games, but have since won four straight, including a 63-59 victory over Gannon back on Nov. 29.
The Bulldogs score 75.6 ppg and are led by Omari George (16.7 ppg) and Ahmaad Wilson (15.7). Wilson is a threat from the outside, hitting 22 3-pointers on 33.3percent shooting. Saiquan Jamison is grabbing 9.6 rpg.
Kutztown looks to remain unbeaten at Keystone Arena (4-0) against Bowie State before it closes out its fall semester schedule with a home tilt against Seton Hill University Saturday, Dec. 9.
