Kutztown (6-15, 3-10 PSAC), who is in the midst of a two-game skid, will look to right the ship in the matchup against the Golden Rams. The Maroon and Gold will look to improve on its offensive production after the 62-40 loss to Millersville on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Sierra Taylor (Williamstown, N.J./Camden Catholic), who has been impressing in her freshman campaign, was a bright spot for the Golden Bears in the loss. She notched 13 points, three assists and two steals against the Marauders and would go on to win her second straight PSAC East Rookie of the Week award on Monday.
The Golden Bears have received most of its production from four of its starters:
Alex Heck (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Philadelphia U.)) (13.7 PPG),
Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) (12.3 PPG), Taylor (12.1 PPG) and
Jenna Altomare (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) (11.5 PPG). Watson is also nearly averaging a double-double this season, hauling in 8.1 rebounds per game, which is good for eighth in the PSAC. Also ranking eighth in the league is Taylor, who is leading the team at four assists per game.
Altomare is averaging 2.4 three-pointers per game this season, good for third in the PSAC, while Heck is seventh in the conference in free throw percentage with a mark of 80.8%.
Offensively, Kutztown and West Chester very comparable to each other, as the Golden Rams average 69.8 points per game as opposed to the Maroon and Gold's 69.4 average. They are also comparable in scoring defense with KU allowing 74.2 points per game as opposed to West Chester's 74.5.
Kutztown will look to take the advantage from beyond the arc as it has found success with the deep ball this season, shooting 31.9% as a team to sit in seventh place in the PSAC. The Golden Bears will need to be efficient with their possessions as West Chester has proven to be stingy on the glass, sitting in the top-10 of the PSAC with 38.6 rebounds per game.
West Chester (8-9, 8-5 PSAC) has won its last three games, all three of which were in PSAC play. The Golden Rams will be led by the trio of Porscha Speller (14.3 PPG), Madison Torresin (13.3 PPG) and Tori Smick (11.9 PPG). Torresin is the enforcer on the glass for the Golden Rams, averaging 8.8 rebounds per game.
