KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Brady McNab (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Frederick C.C.)) and
Kyle Rogers (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) accounted for five of the team's six RBIs, leading the Kutztown University baseball team to a 6-2 victory over Wilmington University at a cold and windy North Campus Field in non-conference action.
Rogers led off the second inning with his first collegiate homer, and drove in his second run of the day with a single up the middle in the third to give KU a 3-1 lead through three.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the sixth (nine-inning game), McNab stepped in as a pinch-hitter. With a full-count, he drove a bases-clearing double to the right-center gap to open Kutztown's lead to 6-1.
The Golden Bears (15-17) used eight pitchers as starter
Peter Masterson (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) threw the opening two followed by seven, one-inning relievers.
Bobby Reddick (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn (Northampton C.C.)) was on the hill when KU took its final lead of the game to earn the win.
Dave King (Zerbe, Pa./Minersville) notched three strikeouts in his inning of work, and joined
David Brown (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham),
Matt Matricardi (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) and
Eric Moul (Hanover, Pa./South Western) as KU pitchers who did not allow a hit.
Kutztown returns to conference-action this weekend, April 8-9, for a four-game series against Mansfield University.
