Baseball Falls in Season-Series to No. 2 Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University baseball team fell in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader against No. 2 Millersville University on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Park.  The Marauders took the opening game 16-3 and followed it with a 11-1 victory in game two. 
 
In taking the season-series after winning two games on Friday against KU (19-31, 9-19 PSAC), the Marauders (43-4, 25-3 PSAC) set a program record for wins during the regular season.
 
Kutztown got out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the second game of the day on an RBI-double by Bo Rottet (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua).  Millersville countered with seven runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to run away with a 11-1 victory. 
 
It followed an opener that saw MU jump out to a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the second in cruising to its 16-3 win. 
 
Freshman Nick Lafferty (Croydon, Pa./Archbishop Wood) went 3-for-3 in the opener with two RBIs and a run scored.  Anthony Sneska (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley), also a freshman, went 1-for-2 with an RBI.   Alec O'Dell (Edgewood, Md./West Chester Bayard Rustin (Harford C.C.)) and Zach Schram (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North (Mercer County C.C.)) went 1-for-3 with a run scored. 
 
Rottet drove in Kyle Rogers (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) for KU's run in the second game.  Rottet and Rogers both finished the opener 1-for-2. 
 
The Golden Bears finish their season with a non-conference, exhibition game against Albright College on Monday, May 2 at the Reading Phillies' FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.  First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
