Baseball Walks off 11-10 Winners Monday Night

WILSON, N.C. - The Kutztown University baseball team got three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, capped by a Kyle Rogers (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) RBI-single to walk off 11-10 winners against Clarion University Monday night at Fleming Stadium.

The Golden Bears were down to their final three outs, trailing 10-8 entering the final-frame. Eric Lane (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) started it off with a single to right field and later scored after Brady McNab (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Frederick C.C.)) doubled to right center. Jeff Zebrowski (Chester Springs, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) came in to pinch-run for McNab and came around to score on a passed ball to knot the game at 10. Rogers came up with two outs with runners on the corners and singled to center, scoring Joe Santospago (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Mercer County C.C.)) to give Kutztown the walk-off win.

Rogers led the Golden Bears at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Santospago finished the day 2-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Alec O'Dell (Edgewood, Md./West Chester Bayard Rustin (Harford C.C.)) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI and a stolen base. Zach Schram (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North (Mercer County C.C.)) hit a pinch-hit homerun in the bottom of the seventh during his only at-bat of the evening. Nick Lafferty (Croydon, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added two RBIs.

Anthony DeVito (Philadelphia, Pa./Central (Mercer County C.C.)) picked up his first victory of the season, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.

The Golden Bears had eight different players with a hit and eight different guys with an RBI. Kutztown finished with 14 total hits, their second most on its current trip.

Kutztown improved to 3-1 on its spring break trip, and 6-7 on the year.

John Finke finished 3-for-5 with six RBIs and three runs scored for Clarion (1-6).

Kutztown returns to action with a doubleheader against Barton College Tuesday. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Nixon Field.
