SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Brandon Keffer (Lancaster, Pa./Cocalico)'s first field goal attempt of the season went through for a game-winner in double-overtime on Saturday as the Kutztown University football team won 24-21 at Shippensburg University and Seth Grove Stadium, clinching KU at least a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title and securing its place in the PSAC Championship game on Nov. 12.

The win kept the Golden Bears (6-3, 6-0 PSAC East) undefeated in the PSAC East at 6-0, matching its most PSAC wins in program history, extended its winning streak to six, secured it a winning season for the third straight year, marked KU's first win at Seth Grove Stadium since 1995, but most importantly –clinched KU a spot in the PSAC Championship game on Nov. 12. The game will be played at the Western Division representative, which is yet to be determined.

KU will have a chance at setting the school-record with a perfect PSAC season at 7-0 next week at home against Cheyney University on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1:05 p.m. at Andre Reed Stadium.

The Golden Bears have bounced back from losing three straight games, to rattling off six wins in a row for the first time in more than 100 years (1900-01). KU has a chance to win seven straight, after losing three straight, for the first time in school history.

Keffer didn't join the team until mid-season, as KU was in need of kickers due to injuries. He had not attempted a field goal all season, but Saturday's 23-yarder will be a memory to last a lifetime (VIDEO).

Shippensburg had a chance to win the game with a 42-yard field goal at the end of regulation, but had its attempt blocked by Sherief Sutton (York, Pa./Central York) to send the game to overtime (VIDEO).

Kutztown started with the ball at Shippensburg's 25-yardline in overtime. KU converted a 4th-and-11 off a defensive pass interference call on Shippensburg, extending the drive that led to quarterback Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) getting up-ended as he went across the goal line for a five-yard touchdown run and a 21-14 lead (VIDEO).

On defense, Kutztown also gave up a 4th-down penalty that led to a Shippensburg touchdown run to tie the game at 21 and send the game to a second overtime.

Shippensburg started with the ball, a penalty moved it back to the 30-yardline, and a 47-yard field goal attempt fell just short to give the ball to Kutztown, needing any points to win the game.

DiGalbo completed a first-down pass to Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), and Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) ran three straight times to setup 4th-and-1 and bring KU's field goal unit on the field for the first time this season. Out of the snap of Tristan Shoopack (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) and the hold of DiGalbo, Keffer made the winning 23-yard field goal to bring the Golden Bears storming onto the field in celebration.

It was KU's first overtime win since 2014 and third in school history.

Kutztown's defense was one of the significant factors in Saturday's win. The only points Shippensburg scored were off a short field after a KU interception, and a pick-six. KU forced seven punts, held Shippensburg to 258 total yards and 116 rushing yards – both more than 100 yards below its average – and kept itself in the ballgame by forcing the Red Raiders off the field.

Shippensburg's defense performed as advertised as one of the best in the country. The Red Raiders entered Saturday allowing 15 points and less than 100 rushing yards per game. KU was held scoreless in the first half for the first time this season, trailing 7-0, as SHIP's stout run defense forced Kutztown to look elsewhere for its offense.

A pick-six by KU in the third quarter put Shippensburg up 14-0 in the opening five minutes of the third quarter.

DiGalbo used his legs to help KU build momentum and its first scoring drive of the game. He ran for 33 yards to put KU in the red-zone for the first time of the day late in the third quarter. One play later, Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) ran in for a 10-yard touchdown, snapping Shippensburg's streak of six straight games not allowing points in the second half, to cut KU's deficit to 14-7 with 5:34 to play in the third.

After being held in check for most of the day, Reynolds burst free for a 63-yard touchdown run up the middle early in the fourth quarter to tie the ballgame at 14-14 with 9:01 to play.

In the fourth quarter, KU forced three Shippensburg punts and blocked a field goal as time expired in regulation.

Seemingly lost in the shuffle, Williams tied the school-record with his 202nd career reception. Already the owner of the school's receiving touchdown record, he is 65 receiving yards shy of tying the school record. Williams had six catches for 77 yards Saturday.

Reynolds' 63-yard touchdown run accounted for most of his yardage. He had 12 carries for 87 yards, moving him up to sixth in school history in single-season rushing yards with 1,105.

DiGalbo threw for 160 and ran for 84 yards and the overtime touchdown – his eighth rushing touchdown of the season. It marks a school-record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback and is tied for ninth-most overall.

Scott ended with 11 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown before exiting with an injury.

Defensively, Kenny Williams (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh (West Chester)) led the charge with nine tackles – eight solo – from his safety position. Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) had eight tackles to pass Sam Dougan for eighth all-time in school history with 286 career tackles.

Jalen Nieves (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) had an interception and seven tackles, while four Golden Bears combined for three sacks on the day.

Kickoff next weekend at Andre Reed Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m.
