Women's Volleyball Falls to Lock Haven in Three Tight Sets on Saturday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Kutztown University women's volleyball team fought hard all match on Saturday, but fell to Lock Haven in straight sets (20-25, 23-25, 22-25) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
Kutztown (3-17, 0-9 PSAC) was once again led by sophomore Brittney Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain (Lock Haven)), who had team-highs of 11 kills and 18 digs.
 
Moyer posted double-digit kills for the 17th time this season and was a dig away from tying her season-high of 19. She has been phenomenal all season for KU, leading the team with 288 kills (leads PSAC) and 31 service aces (fourth). Moyer also ranks second on the team with 238 digs.
 
Senior Tori Wakelee (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) contributed with seven kills and 11 digs, while Taylor Brown (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) notched five kills.
 
Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) and Sophie Kerschner (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) each posted 10 digs in the setback, while Moyer and Brown led the team with a block each.
 
Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) posted nine digs on Saturday and moved into eighth all-time in program history with 1,043. She also recorded a team-high 19 assists. Conti has posted at least 16 assists in all 20 matches this season.
 
The Bald Eagles were led by Gabrielle Stick and Jordyn Topping, who both posted 10 kills in the victory. Sarah Gomish contributed with nine. Olivia Sass led Lock Haven with 19 assists, while Sydney Belcastro led the team with 23 digs.
 
Lock Haven (4-13, 3-6) held a decisive 42-29 advantage in kills on Saturday, while also having a nine to four edge in service aces. The Bald Eagles also displayed good passing with 39 assists to just 24 for KU.
 
The Golden Bears will look to get back in the win column next Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. against West Chester as they start a four-game homestand at Keystone Arena.
