WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team suffered a 92-55 setback on the road in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division affair against the Golden Rams of West Chester University on Wednesday evening inside Hollinger Field House.
Although the Maroon and Gold were only down by nine after the first quarter, West Chester continued to increase its lead with efficient shooting from the field as it was up 65-34 over Kutztown after three quarters of play.
Keifonna Ferguson (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area) had an impressive night offensively as she picked up a career-high 20 points. She added a career-high-tying nine rebounds and two blocks. Ferguson is the first 20-point scorer off the bench for Kutztown since
Jenna Altomare (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) scored 23 against West Chester in 2013.
Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) posted 11 points, two steals and three boards.
Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) again flirted with a near triple-double as she tallied seven points, five assists and eight rebounds.
Altomare extended her streak to 18 consecutive games with a 3-pointer with one on Wednesday night. She ended with six points.
Kutztown pulled out the advantage in offensive rebounds, 13-9, but had troubles holding onto the ball with 21 turnovers. West Chester also shot a whopping 59.7 percent from the field.
West Chester received its production from Brittany Sicinski, Madison Torresin and Dallas Ely, the third-leading scorer in West Chester history after Wednesday's 16-point performance.
Kutztown returns home to open a three-game home-stand on Saturday, Jan. 30 for a PSAC East matchup against Millersville. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
