ERIE, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team held its own on Wednesday, but ultimately fell victim to No. 4 Gannon University, 1-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at McConnell Family Stadium.
Kutztown (3-3-1, 3-3 PSAC) held Gannon (7-0, 6-0 PSAC) scoreless through the first 72 minutes before allowing a goal off a rebound at 72:43.

Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tied her season-high with eight saves. Two team saves were awarded to the Golden Bears including one in the 37th minute after a Gannon shot hit the inside of the right post and the KU defense cleared it away.
Gannon held a 22-5 advantage in shots and a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.
The Golden Bears take on Indiana (Pa.) next Friday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. from South Campus Field.
