KUTZTOWN, Pa. – 2015 marks the 100th season of Kutztown University football, and in conjunction with the university's Sesquicentennial Celebration, KU will be releasing the greatest moments in program history and its All-Decade teams during home and road football games. KU will release top moments every week, and this week, we look at the All-Decade team for the 1970s.
All-time moments and All-Decade teams spanning the entire 100 Seasons will be released throughout the 2015 campaign. They will be announced at home games through game programs and public address, and at road games through on-air broadcasts on KUR. Be sure to check out the

Former KU football players had to meet one of the following requirements to be named to an All-Decade Team:
• Member of KU Athletics Hall of Fame, for accomplishments primarily in football
• Member of 20th Century Athlete of the Decade team, for accomplishments primarily in football
• 1895-99 pioneer of program
• Multiple all-conference selections
• Earned post-season award on team that qualified for post-season play
• Signed Contract with NFL Team
The release of the All-Decade teams lead up to the public unveiling of the All-Time Team on Nov. 7. On the day of KU's home football game against Shippensburg (1:05 p.m.), the university will celebrate the program's 100th season. KU's All-Time Football Team will be announced at a public ceremony at the O'Pake Field House beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free and all fans are welcome to attend. Please

After their public release, a compiled list of released moments and All-Decade Teams will be added to the
main headquarters for 100 Seasons of KU Football. The following moments and decades were released during Saturday's game. Players are listed in alphabetical order by decade.
1938. Fiorindo "Beauty" DeMatteo - Kutztown's first All-American. The newly tabbed, "Golden Avalanche" were led by the program's first true superstar, Fiorindo "Beauty" DeMatteo. Kutztown's initial first team Associated Press Little All-American, DeMatteo passed, ran, punted and kicked while leading his teams to a 16-8-4 record during his tenure.
November 22, 1980. Mertz Steps Up for School-Record 31 Tackles. In the 1980 Pennsylvania Conference Championship Game, junior linebacker Larry Mertz turned in the best game of his career with a school-record 31 tackles, nine solo and 22 assisted.
September 9, 2006. Turn On the Lights. What makes this game memorable was the fact that it marked the first-ever night game, the first game on the renovated University Field, and also the first in head coach Raymond Monica's tenure. Oh, and KU Hall of Famer and former NFL All-Pro Andre Reed conducted the coin toss.
November 14, 2011. Highest National Ranking in School History. KU entered the 2011 NCAA playoffs ranked sixth in the American Football Coaches Association national poll, the highest national ranking in program history.
