HTML Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team fell behind in the first half of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday, as the Indiana University (PA) Crimson Hawks secured a 17-7 victory over the Golden Bears from Miller Stadium.
Sarah Gabriele recorded her second-consecutive hat trick, and the second four-goal game of her rookie season to lead the Kutztown (1-11, 0-8 PSAC) offense. She finished with four goals on six shots, along with three groundballs and two draw controls.
Senior captains
Taylor Stone and
Jillian Spencer netted the final KU scores. Stone scored two goals on two shots, while Spencer tallied her goal off a free-position attempt.
Kelli Serpi and
Madison Carlucci each dished an assist.
Courtney O'Neill led the KU defense with five groundball and three draw control pickups, while combining with
Lauren Huggins for four of the team's six caused turnovers. Huggins and Gabriele recorded three groundballs each. Freshman goalkeeper
Jen Bergey made 10 saves and picked up two groundballs.
The Crimson Hawks (8-4, 6-1) rushed out to a 10-2 lead after the first half and finished the game with a 32-14 shot advantage over Kutztown. Brittney Palardy scored five first-half goals, and Carissa Smith finished with four goals and an assist. Amy Weinberg controlled the center of the field, securing 10 draw controls.
The Golden Bears return home for their final three home games, starting with Mercyhurst University this Friday, April 17 at 3 p.m. from Keystone Field. Senior Day will take place on Saturday vs. Slippery Rock.
