HTML Box Score EDINBORO, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team traveled out west on Friday afternoon, falling to Edinboro University 17-5 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action from Sox Harrison Stadium.
Edinboro (5-1, 2-2 PSAC) came out strong, scoring within the first 31 seconds of play and building an 11-2 lead at the intermission. The Fighting Scots' sophomore Emily Peters was an offensive force, finishing the game with seven goals on 10 shots.
Kutztown (1-5, 0-3 PSAC) fought through with a limited lineup as some critical players missed action due to injury.
Freshman
Sarah Gabriele continues to impress in her rookie campaign as she was the only Golden Bear to record a multi-goal game. Gabriele notched two on the day for her team-high 12th and 13th goals of the season.
Taylor Stone,
Kelli Serpi, and
Lauren Huggins tallied the final three goals for Kutztown, all unassisted.
Freshman
Jillian Figel led the Golden Bears with four groundballs, while Serpi, Huggins,
Devan Davis, and
Cara Lord each nabbed two draw controls.
Goalkeepers
Abby Cox (10) and
Jen Bergey (3) each played a half, combining for 13 saves.
Edinboro outshot KU, 33-26, and held a 16-8 advantage off the draw.
Adding to Peter's seven goals, Edinboro received a hat trick from Alexa Healy and two-goal games from Cydney Hrycko and Kasey Thur. Paige Skinner played the majority of the contest at goalkeeper, recording 12 saves.
The Golden Bears hit the road again tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 for a 3 p.m. conference matchup
at Bloomsburg University.
