HTML Box Scores: Game 1 | Game 2

BEL AIR, Md. – The Kutztown University baseball team opened up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play on Sunday afternoon. It dropped the opener against East Stroudsburg University 11-1, snapping Kutztown's eight-game winning streak to open the season, but rallied with a 10-0 win in the nightcap.

East Stroudsburg (10-2, 1-1 PSAC) opened the doubleheader with runs in the first five innings, including five in the fourth. It chased KU starter Bobby Reddick after three innings, as unearned runs opened the game up midway through.

Kutztown's only run of the game came in the top of the seventh inning with a Daulton Fidler RBI single, his first RBI of the year. Fidler and Ben Eppley both had multi-hit games for KU.

ESU pitcher Matt Festa threw five shutout innings with six strikeouts and no walks to move to 3-0 on the year.

The second game was nearly the exact opposite, as Kutztown (9-1, 1-1) opened up a 4-0 lead through two innings. KU scored on an error and Ryan Cox had a two-run double for a 3-0 lead in the first, as a Brady McNab RBI single gave KU the 4-0 lead.

Kutztown pitcher Paul Piromalli was one the highlights of the day. He threw six innings of four-hit ball in the win. He had six strikeouts with one walk.

The Golden Bears combined for six runs in the final two innings. Brandon Cholish had a RBI in the sixth and a bases clearing, three-run double in the seventh for four of Kutztown's five runs in the final innings. Cox had the other RBI in the seventh.

Along with Piromalli, Eric Hartranft contributed to the shutout with one inning of hitless work.

Action resumes on Monday, March 16 for the second half of the doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
