AFCA Release KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Redshirt-junior offensive lineman
Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest) of the Kutztown University football team earned the prestigious honor of being named to the 2015 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' All-America Team, announced on Thursday morning.
Morgan is the fourth Golden Bear in team history to be named to the AFCA All-America Team and the first since defensive tackle Denauld Brown in 1997. The other two Golden Bears to be named to the AFCA All-America Team were offensive lineman Steve Head in 1977 and former NFL linebacker John Mobley in 1995. All three are members of KU's All-Time Football Team.
The 2015 AFCA All-America Team is comprised of 25 players overall. Morgan is one of just five non-seniors to make the team and is one of two juniors along with punter Brett Benes of Charleston.
Morgan is one of three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) players to be named to the AFCA All-America Team this season along with fellow offensive lineman Cory Tucker of Slippery Rock and wide receiver Jon Schnaars of East Stroudsburg.
The Philadelphia native has racked up numerous postseason awards in his last two seasons with Kutztown. Morgan is a two-time All-PSAC East First Team honoree and was named to the 2014 D2Football.com All-America Honorable Mention team.
Morgan has started at left tackle for Kutztown in 32 of its last 33 games, including a current streak of 13 in a row. Morgan and the rest of the KU offensive live played a major part in the offense's record-breaking season.
The Kutztown offense set the school-record for total offense at 488.8 yards per game and recorded the first 400-yard rushing performance in school history. KU's top four running backs all averaged over 5.0 yards per carry and three had over 300 rushing yards.
Morgan led the way for senior running back
Terry Williams (West Orange, N.J./Cosby (Phoenix College))' impressive season. Williams was named to the 2015 All-PSAC East Second Team after rushing for 838 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) was KU's second-leading rusher with 601 yards and five touchdowns.
Quarterback
Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) also leaned on the presence of Morgan in the passing game. The protection from Morgan and the rest of the KU offensive line played a significant role in Barton's prolific season through the air. He threw for over 3,000 yards and had 28 touchdowns.
Morgan has been a key contributor during KU's winning seasons in the last two years. The Golden Bears won six games in 2014 and seven games in 2015. The All-American offensive lineman will look to keep racking up postseason awards in his final campaign in 2016 and help lead KU to another successful season.
