KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team will host the second Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover of the year this weekend, Oct. 16-17, one of four schools hosting crossover tournaments this weekend.
Kutztown (4-16, 2-7 PSAC) looks to play well this weekend and capture a few match wins against teams in the PSAC Western division. KU matches up with Slippery Rock and Edinboro on Friday, and Mercyhurst and Gannon on Saturday.
KU currently sits in a tie for fifth in the PSAC East with its 2-7 mark. Four matchups in PSAC play this weekend will give the Golden Bears a chance to gain ground in the standings.
Senior
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) ranks ninth in the PSAC with 225 kills and 3.36 kills per set. She also is second in the conference with 1.27 blocks per set and third with 85 total blocks.
Stringer currently sits seventh all-time in KU history with 984 career kills and needs 16 more kills to reach 1,000 for her illustrious career. She is seventh in school history in total blocks with 345.
Freshman
Shannon Restrepo (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) has been phenomenal in multiple statistical categories for Kutztown. She ranks first on the team with 31 service aces and 311 assists, second with 195 digs, third with 100 kills and fourth with 22 total blocks.
Freshman
Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) is second on the team with 118 kills and has also chipped in with 16 total blocks.
Tori Wakelee (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) has recorded 91 kills and 156 digs.
Niki Carpenter (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion Area) is second on the team with 50 total blocks.
Junior
Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) leads the team with 317 digs, tied for 10th in the PSAC. Her 1,113 career digs rank her seventh all-time in KU history.
Kutztown begins play on Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. against Slippery Rock and competes in four total matches over the two-day event.
