KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Five Golden Bears scored in double figures to lead the Kutztown University men's basketball team to an 88-75 win over Shippensburg University on Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (11-7, 8-4 PSAC East) put together an effective 40 minutes to score the most points the Raiders (8-7, 4-7) have allowed all season. KU made more than half of its shots in the first half to get out to an 11-point halftime lead. It controlled the second half and shot 49.2 percent for the game to snap its two-game skid.

Kutztown and East Stroudsburg (10-5, 8-3) both won Wednesday night, as KU stands a half-game behind ESU in the Eastern Division standings. The two teams are set to meet for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Keystone Arena.

Kutztown protected the ball and held an impressive 21/7 assist/turnover ratio, its lowest number of turnovers of the season. Four Golden Bears posted three or more assists that led KU to 8-for-17 from three-point range, its second-best output from long range of the year.

Tynell Fortune (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West (California (PA))) posted his third straight 20-point game and his fourth in the last five games with a team-high 20 points. He is averaging 20 points per game in KU's five games in 2015 and is sixth in the PSAC in scoring at 16.2 per game.

Fortune was perfect at the free throw line for the second straight game. He was 8-for-8 on Wednesday and has made his last 20 free throws dating back to Saturday's 12-for-12 performance against Lock Haven. He is sixth in the PSAC in free throw percentage at 86.6 percent, and his two three-pointers raised him to 13th in the PSAC at 1.9 per game.

As a team, Kutztown posted its best performance at the free throw line of the season at 18-for-20 (.900).

Josh Johnson (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. He was 6-for-11 from the field, highlighted by an and-1 put-back dunk, and had two blocks.

Howard Sellars (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area (Saint Peter's)) and Austin Beidelman (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) dished out a team-high five assists, as Sellars scored 12 points in 16 minutes. Tyler Brooks (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) scored 11 points with three three-pointers and had three assists and two blocks. Brooks dropped to second in the PSAC at 2.1 blocks per game, as Seton Hill's Spencer Casson has tallied an astonishing 26 blocks in the last four games to lift him to a conference-leading 3.1 per game.

Anthony Selby (Jersey City, N.J./Williamstown (Burlington County CC)) rounded out the team's double-digit scorers with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

Shippensburg senior Dylan Edgar scored the 1,000th point of his career with 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting and seven rebounds. Justin McCarthur scored a game-high 21 points and Abe Massaley finished with 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Dustin Sleva finished with six points and seven assists.
