Field Hockey to Head West for PSAC Clash at IUP

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University field hockey team will be traveling to Indiana University (PA) to face the Crimson Hawks in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest this Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m.

The Golden Bears (3-3, 2-2 PSAC) are heading into the matchup after suffering a difficult 2-1 setback to Mansfield, but still have plenty of things to feel confident about.  Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) will look to continue her offensive onslaught after tallying KU's only goal against Mansfield.  Saturday's matchup will be a good opportunity for Behm to claim the top spot in the PSAC in goals scored, as she currently trails Ally Roth of East Stroudsburg by one goal.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kutztown will look to slow down IUP (1-4, 0-3), who is coming off its first win of the season last Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood. Ericka Griffith and Casey McGowan each netted their first goals of the season to put the Crimson Hawks in the win column.

Chardonnay Hope (New Castle, Del./William Penn) and Kayla Denlinger (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) have shared time in the cage as the Golden Bear keeper so far this season. The duo have both seen starts this season, with Hope starting four of the last five. KU has a good chance for its first shutout this season, as IUP ranks last in the conference with less than one goal scored per game.

Currently in a tie for fifth place in the conference, the Maroon and Gold will have the chance to move up into the top three and improve to 3-2 in the PSAC.  Millersville is currently the top seeded team in the PSAC, as it has a perfect 6-0 record overall and a 4-0 record in the conference.
