GAME NOTES
SERIES HISTORY: Saturday marks the second all-time meeting between the Golden Bears and the Golden Knights. They first met in the 2010 regular season-finale, when KU won 27-24 at Gannon before earning the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.
BROADCAST INFORMATION: On the road in 2014, KU football will be broadcast online through, "The Radio Voice of Kutztown University, KUR." Matt Santos, Kutztown University's director of university relations who has covered Golden Bear Football since coming to KU in 1992, will have the call at Kutztown's six road games in 2014. The pregame show will start 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
ICE THAT ARM: In his first career start, QB
Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) set the school-record with 64 pass attempts vs. Slippery Rock. The previous record of 63 attempts was held by Kevin Morton from 2012 against Shippensburg. Barton has thrown 106 passes this season, the most in the PSAC and 23 more than any other quarterback in the league. He is also third in Division II at 30 completions per game. He is on pace for a school-record 330 completions this season. The KU single-season record is 284 by Kevin Morton in 2012.

Sam Dougan (Secane, Pa./Ridley) is a two-time All-PSAC MLB and leads the team with 18 tackles after a team-high 10 last week against Indiana (PA). He has 212 career tackles, making him the 17th Golden Bear in program history with 200 tackles. He currently ranks eighth on the PSAC active career leaderboard and 31st in Division II. Gannon's Luke Rankie is seventh in the PSAC and 27th in Division II with 216 tackles. Cheyney's Isiah Fleming leads all active players in Division II with 359 career tackles.
PSAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Redshirt junior
Anthony Kelly (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) caught a school-record-tying four touchdowns in KU's 44-7 upset over then-20th-ranked Indiana (PA) last week, earning Kelly this week's PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week. Four of Kelly's six catches went for touchdowns as he hauled in a career-high 152 yards. He is the fourth Golden Bear in program history to catch four touchdown passes in a game and the first since 2005.
QUITE THE START: Anthony Kelly (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) has caught a Division II-leading six touchdown passes through Kutztown's first two games and is second in the league and 16th in Division II at 118 yards per game. His four TD grabs on Saturday matched his season total from 2013, and his six scores this season mark the total number of touchdowns in his first two seasons in the Maroon and Gold.
MULTIPLE TD GRABS: Anthony Kelly (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) is quickly moving his way up the KU career leaderboard with 12 touchdown catches for 13th all-time. The last time a KU receiver caught multiple touchdown passes in the first two games of the season was Colby Tuell in 2012. No KU receiver has caught multiple TD passes in the first three games dating back through the 1997 season.
RAPID FIRE: Kutztown has run 180 plays through two games this season, the second-most in the PSAC. Shippensburg has a league-leading 182. KU ran 91 plays against Slippery Rock and 89 vs. Indiana (PA). The most it ran in 2013 was 89 (Clarion) and it ran more than 90 only one time in 2012 (91 vs. Saint Anselm). The school-record is believed to be 98 in 2007 against Southern Connecticut State.
4TH-DOWN DEFENSE: Kutztown opponents are 0-for-3 on fourth-down conversions. It is one of two teams in the PSAC (Slippery Rock) and 35 in Division II that have not allowed a first down on a fourth-down conversion attempt.
GOOD HANDS: Kutztown is the only team in the PSAC and one of 35 in Division II that has not lost a fumble. Last season, KU lost five total fumbles (all by quarterbacks) for third in the PSAC and 13th in Division II.
THE BARTON BUNCH: Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) has thrown a Division II-leading eight touchdowns this season with just one interception. He is one of four quarterbacks in the country with eight touchdown passes. His 60 completions and 106 attempts also lead the league, and he is second in the PSAC with 674 passing yards.
UPSET OF THE WEEK: KU defeated #20 Indiana (PA) last week, 44-7. Kutztown's last win over a nationally-ranked team was in 2011, when it went on to win its first-ever PSAC Championship.
TICK TOCK: Kutztown leads the PSAC and is 12th in Division II with an average time of possession of 35:36 per game.
FEATURED FRESHMAN: WR
Nathan Hollander (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) has led the team in receptions in each of the first two games of the season. It is the second consecutive year that a freshman has led KU in catches in the team's first two games of the season. Hollander is third in the PSAC and 14th in Division II with 8.5 receptions per game.
STRETCHING THE FIELD: Kutztown had its first 50+ yard play of the season last week, a 64-yard touchdown pass from
Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) to
Anthony Kelly (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area). KU had one play go for 50 or more yards last season, a 78-yard touchdown run by
Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) against ESU. KU's longest pass was a 49-yard touchdown from
Josh Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Dallastown) to A. Tonnies against Lock Haven.
MR. REED: Redshirt junior
Kodi Reed (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) opened his 2014 campaign with a 24-yard touchdown catch, the 16th of his career. He is now tied for ninth on the KU career leaderboard. He is coming off a career-best season and was Kutztown's offensive representative on the all-conference team. He led the team with a career-high 797 yards and 60 catches for nine touchdowns.
100-CATCH CLUB: Kodi Reed (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) caught six passes last week, raising his career total to 101. He is the 12th player in school history with 100 career catches. Reed is currently one of 45 players in Division II with more than 100 career catches.
Brett Fox (Laureldale, Pa./Muhlenburg) has 93 catches as both players are chasing KU Hall of Famer Mark Steinmeyer's school-record 200 from 1988-91.
MULTIPLE PICKOFFS: Tyler Pratt (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) needed just two games to haul in two interceptions this season. He is one of four PSAC players with two interceptions, including Gannon's Nico Mendieta. It took KU until the final game of the season last year to have a player haul in his second interception of the season, when
Zachary Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) had two in the season-finale vs. Edinboro.
PASS ATTACK: Dating back to 2011, Kutztown has thrown 30 or more pass attempts in 21 of its last 23 games.
PSAC PRESEASON POLL: The Golden Bears were right in the middle of the pack, slotted fifth of eight teams in the Eastern Division.
