Kutztown with Eight Different Scorers in Setback at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Following a tightly-contested first half, the Kutztown University women's basketball team lost some momentum at the end of the first half and into the second half with a 11-0 run from West Chester University. Kutztown was not able to cut the deficit back to one possession as it fell 81-65 on Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game at Hollinger Fieldhouse.
 
Similar to her first game against West Chester when she posted the programs' first-ever triple-double, Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) put together a solid all-around performance for the Golden Bears. She scored a team-high 15 points, and had nine rebounds, five blocks, and four steals. She shot 7-for-9 from the field.
 
All eight players who stepped onto the floor scored for Kutztown (7-14, 4-7 PSAC East). Freshman Jess Harvey (Barnegat, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) was the only other double-digit scorer with 12 points including a pair of three-pointers. Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) and Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) each chipped in eight points, and Nicole Donahue (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) and Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) each finished with seven. Bonenberger also grabbed six rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists along with Lee.
 
The first half was tightly contested with impressive field goal percentages as Kutztown led by three with 3:08 to play in the half. West Chester took momentum into the locker room with an 8-0 run to close the half and lead 37-32.
 
The run was extended to 11-0 with an opening three-pointer from West Chester, who took a 40-32 lead following the first possession of the first half. Kutztown continued to fight to get within one possession, but was unable to do so down the stretch. It trailed by four on numerous occasions, but a late 8-0 run gave West Chester its first double-digit lead of the game at 68-55 with 5:49 to play.
 
West Chester (16-6, 11-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Jasmen Clark's 17 including five makes from beyond the arc. Brittany Sicinski scored 14, Anna Kuntz scored 13 with eight rebounds, and Serifat Junaid had 12.
 
As a team, West Chester dominated the rebounding battle, winning 54-39 with 20 offensive rebounds. Dallas Ely was the team's leading rebounder with 11.
 
The Golden Bears return to action and remain on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 12 when it takes on Cheyney University at 6 p.m. Kutztown won the first meeting, 67-52.
