Field Hockey Keeps Playoff Push Alive with Saturday’s 2-0 Win

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University field hockey team remains in the postseason hunt with a 2-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over Seton Hill University from Dick's Sporting Goods Field on Saturday.

The top six teams move on to the PSAC playoffs, and Kutztown (8-8, 6-6 PSAC) is currently on the outside looking in. The Golden Bears stand in seventh place, but are only one game back from both Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst with two games remaining in the season.

Junior Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) led the offensive charge in the triumph over Seton Hill (0-14, 0-12) on Saturday. Behm opened up the scoring in the 20th minute, as Behm was on the receiving end of a penalty corner connection from Morgan Aldinger (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and Rayann Fink (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood).

Ten minutes into the second half, Behm slotted the ball into Megan Tiwold (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) on the inside, who finished it into the back of the cage to give the Golden Bears some breathing room.

Behm recorded her first assist of the year and has now scored 16 goals in 16 games, ranking third in the PSAC.

Junior Kayla Denlinger (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) recorded the shutout in the cage with five saves. It is the second shutout on the year for the Golden Bears, with Denlinger between the pipes for both occasions.

Kutztown outshot its opponent 15-6 and held an 18-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Kutztown returns home this Wednesday to face Millersville at 3 p.m., and will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at East Stroudsburg. The Maroon and Gold must win at least one-of-two for a chance to catch Mercyhurst or Slippery Rock. The Golden Bears hold the head-to-head advantage over Mercyhurst with a 3-2 victory earlier in the season.
