Video Replay KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University field hockey team went up against second-ranked Millersville University for the second time of the season on Wednesday afternoon, but the Golden Bears fell 2-0 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game at University Field at Andre Reed Stadium.
The Golden Bears (8-9, 6-7 PSAC) improved upon their previous decision against the Marauders (15-2, 11-2), who are now riding a four-game winning streak. Earlier this year, KU dropped a 6-1 decision, but the team was committed to holding its ground on defense and not allow Millersville to build any steady rhythm.
Millersville scored twice in the first half, both coming off penalty corners, as Kutztown held Millersville scoreless in the second half. Kutztown's best opportunity was a 2-on-1 break in the second half, but a crossing pass was collected in front of the cage by the Millersville defender and cleared away.
The Golden Bears remain in the playoff hunt, but will need a win on Saturday to keep itself in the conversation. KU wraps up its regular-season that featured many high points to build upon on Saturday, Nov. 8 on the road at seventh-ranked East Stroudsburg University beginning at 1 p.m.
