ALTOONA, Pa. – The ninth-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team won three of its opening four matches and stands in second place after the first day of competition at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis University (PA).
The Golden Bears (51-28) rate second of nine teams in terms of pinfall, all of which are teams that competed at last week's Kutztown Invitational. LIU Brooklyn leads the way with a total pinfall of 3580, followed by KU at 3575, Delaware State at 3436, St. Francis (PA) at 3365, and Penn State Altoona at 3025.
Kutztown opened its day against the host, the Red Flash of St. Francis (PA). It was the seventh time this season the two nationally-ranked teams squared off. KU won its second match in a row against SFU by a score of 723-617.
KU moved to 3-0 to start the day with wins over Cheyney (685-465) and Penn State Altoona (730-616), before ending the day with a setback to 15th-ranked Delaware State, 722-684.

Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) and sophomore
Lauren Stamm (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led the way for the Golden Bears with matching frame averages of 18.66 for 39 frames.
The Golden Bears return to action with four schedule matches on Saturday, Feb. 1. They take on Pittsburgh-Bradford, Mount Aloysius, New Jersey City, and 20th-ranked and tournament-leading LIU Brooklyn.
