KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team travels to Millersville University to face the Marauders for a Wednesday night showdown in the PSAC East. Tipoff from Pucillo Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 15 is set for 6 p.m.

Both teams own a 3-1 record in the division, which ties them for second place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division with Shippensburg. The Golden Bears (6-8, 3-1 PSAC East) are fresh off a 67-52 win against Cheyney that ended a five-game losing streak. Last season, the Golden Bears were swept by Millersville, but the latter loss was by five points.

The Marauders (8-6, 3-1) own a 2-4 record at Pucillo Gym. However, against common opponents, KU owns a 2-6 record and Millersville owns a 6-3 record.

LAST TIME OUT: The Golden Bears ended a five-game losing streak by defeating Cheyney, 67-52, Saturday afternoon at Keystone Arena. Kutztown moved to second place in the PSAC East with the victory, tying the Golden Bears with Shippensburg and Millersville. Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) posted her third double-double of the season, totaling 10 points and 11 rebounds. She also had four steals in the game. Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.

SECOND HALF STRUGGLES END: A 16-0 run midway through the second half helped to give the Golden Bears a comfortable lead to secure the win. This reverses a trend of struggles by KU in the second half. In six PSAC crossover games, the team shot 79-of-183 (43.2 percent) from the field in the first half and 64-of-181 (35.4 percent) in the second half. This includes second-half runs by Indiana, Pa. (20-4 in 7:35), Seton Hill (20-5 in 11:46) and California, Pa. (14-4 in 7:09) that gave each opponent a comfortable lead to secure wins. KU went 1-5 in crossover games.

STEALS APLENTY: In the win against Cheyney, the defense continued to show its prowess. With 16 steals on Saturday, Kutztown has double-digit steals in 10 of its last 11 games, averaging 12.91 steals per game in that stretch. This includes a six-game stretch of 10+ steals from 11/20 to 12/18, a program-best since 1998 (1/31-2/14), when the team averaged 10.93 steals per game. Kutztown also set a school record with 22 steals at Mansfield on Dec. 4. The Golden Bears rank second in the PSAC with 11.79 steals per game, behind only the 12.53 average for West Chester.

STATISTICAL ADVIA-TION: The production this year from junior forward Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) soared, especially as of late. Campbell accomplished the program's first-ever triple-double, including a school-record 10 blocks, against West Chester on Dec. 7. This was the first of three double-doubles and (three seven-steal games) in her last nine games. Campbell averages 9.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals (PSAC-best) and 2.2 blocks (second in the PSAC) per game. Campbell is on pace for 84 steals, which would rank her third in a single season for KU.

MRS. RELIABLE: Through her three years at KU, junior guard Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) started 66 consecutive games and counting. With that, she's become arguably the biggest focal point of the offense. Her 10.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game both lead the Golden Bears. She scored in double digits in nine of 14 games this season.

FRESH BATCH OF "3'S": Freshman guard Jenna Altomare (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) arrived on the scene with her 23-point performance against West Chester on Dec. 7. This included six three-point field goals, one shy of a school record. Since then, Altomare is in the starting lineup and provides a consistent threat from three, shooting a team-best 40.0 percent from that range.

Looking in the Other Corner: the Millersville Marauders

STELLAR SHOOTING: Sophomore guard Celeste Robinson is making the most of her time on the floor for her second season. The sophomore ranks second on the team with 12.8 points per game. Robinson ranks third in the PSAC with 55.1 percent shooting from the floor, but the percentage tops all guards. Additionally, she leads the team with 3.4 assists per game.

BATTLE TO THE LINE: Junior guard Carly Gallagher ranks fifth in the PSAC with 96 free throw attempts. She averages nearly seven such attempts per game. Shooting 71.9 percent from the charity stripe helps Gallagher to lead the team with 13.5 points per game. No other Marauder has at least 50 free throw attempts for the season.

HEY THERE, COACH: Marauders head coach Mary Fleig is in her 23rd season as head coach at the university. Fleig's teams own a 17 consecutive season streak with an appearance in the PSAC Championship Tournament. Fleig has 560 wins overall as head coach, including 438 at Millersville. In her tenure, MU made the NCAA Tournament nine times.
