KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball program enters its second half of the season this weekend, a 13-game inter-divisional stint beginning with Cheyney University this Saturday, Jan. 11 from Keystone Arena at 1 p.m.

The remainder of the regular-season games will count toward the conference record for the Golden Bears, as they square off against their fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division rivals.

Over the course of the first 13 games, Kutztown came out with a 5-8 record, competing against a variety of opponents. KU secured two big wins against non-PSAC schools, Philadelphia University and the University of the Sciences, while snagging a victory from Clarion University in the PSAC West.

The Maroon and Gold did come across three PSAC East opponents in the first half of the season, escaping with a 2-1 record and currently standing in fourth place in the division. KU overcame East Stroudsburg University by one point and defeated Mansfield University, before falling to West Chester University by two. Kutztown will see these three teams one more time throughout the scheduled season, along with a home and away battle against the remaining East squads (Millersville, Bloomsburg, Cheyney, Shippensburg, and Lock Haven).

The Golden Bears look to get back to winning form this weekend against the 1-12 (1-3 PSAC East) Cheyney Wolves, as they have experienced a bit of misfortune as of late with a five-game losing skid, all occurring against PSAC West foes. Last season, Kutztown earned two convincing wins against the Wolves, both coming by double-digits.

Junior Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) continues to serve as the backbone for this rather young KU squad. Bonenberger has controlled the inside and outside presence for her team, leading the way with 10.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape), the only other upperclassmen regularly in the starting lineup, slightly trails her teammate, averaging 9.6 points and 7.1 boards per contest. Besides her consistent scoring, Campbell has also been tremendous on the defensive side of the ball. Her 3.2 steals per game (41 total) is the best in the PSAC and her 2.4 blocks per game (31) is second best, only behind ESU's Jessica Martin (2.6).

Sophomore Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) and freshmen Jess Harvey (Barnegat, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) have held down the backcourt for the Golden Bears. In the passing game, Lee is averaging 3.2 assists per clip, while Harvey has added 2.8 per. The young guards have also been putting points on the board, ranking third and fourth on Kutztown in the scoring column. Lee is putting up 9.2 points per game, with Harvey adding 7.9 points. Lee's 2.4 steals per game currently ranks eighth highest in the PSAC.

The Cheyney squad features three players averaging points in double figures. Kyra Hines-Allen leads the team in both points and rebounds (10.5, 5.0), while Amber Genwright has locked down 10 points per game, starting in all 13 contests so far this year for the Wolves. Lachelle Miller has also recorded 10 points per clip from a reserve role. Guard Kia Whitley-Duncan will be one to keep an eye on this Saturday, as she leads the team with 20 steals and her 4.1 assists per game is sixth best in the conference.

Following the matchup vs. Cheyney, the Golden Bears will commence a three-game road trip, beginning with Millersville University on Wednesday, Jan. 15, scheduled to tipoff at 6 p.m.
