BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team took the initial lead over Bloomsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup Tuesday evening, but fell to the Huskies 12-5 at Sports Stadium.

The Golden Bears (2-5 overall, 1-2 PSAC) opened the game against Bloomsburg (3-5, 1-2) with a draw control that led to a Taylor Stone (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) goal off an assist by Kelsey Hogan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) in the first minute of action.

The first half continued in an exchange of scoring by both the Huskies and the Golden Bears including Rosa Buffolino (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp) scoring her 15th goal of the season. Bloomsburg broke the tie at 2-2, however, and scored three unanswered to take a 5-2 lead into halftime.

KU goalkeeper JoAnn McLaughlin (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape) had two saves from free position shots to open the second half before the Huskies found the back of the net to take a four-goal lead with 23:44 remaining.

Stone recovered the ball from a free position shot by Jillian Spencer (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) to score the third goal for KU just over 10 minutes into the second half. Stone's scoring efforts were interrupted by one goal by Bloomsburg and ended with her third goal of the game to bring the score to 7-4.

Bloomsburg scored three straight goals before Hogan scored the fifth goal for KU off a free position shot to take the score to 10-5 with three minutes remaining in the game. Bloomsburg scored twice more in the final minutes.

The Golden Bears return to action Friday, April 5 when they host Mercyhurst University at Keystone Field beginning at 4 p.m.
