Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University's postseason run ended at the hands of top-seeded Bloomsburg as the Huskies used a dominating first half performance to dispatch the Golden Bears 81-52 in the PSAC Quarterfinals.
The Golden Bears trailed just 6-4 early after a layup by
Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) less than four minutes into the contest. Bloomsburg turned up the defense after that, allowing Kutztown to sink just two more field goals the rest of the half and went into halftime with a 51-19 lead.
Kutztown, who shot just 4-of-18 in the period, got most of its production at the foul line in the opening 20 minutes, going 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.
Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) led KU in points, rebounds and assists. The freshman scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and was one of three Golden Bears with three assists in the game.
Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) finished with 11 points.
Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) had two blocks and two steals.
Lauren Ellis, Catherine Noack and Kayla Oxenrider each had 15 points to lead Bloomsburg and Danielle Derr netted 12.
The Huskies hit 53 percent from the floor, compared to just 26 percent for Kutztown. The Golden Bears held a 34-31 edge on the glass. KU also went 26-of-36 from the foul line, while BU attempted just 20 free throws during the entire game.
Wood closes her career in sixth place all-time at Kutztown with 1,276 points. She is also fifth in made three-point attempts at 124.
