MANSFIELD, Pa. –Jess Harvey (Barnegat, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) scored a season-high 19 points and Nicole Donahue (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) hit the go-ahead jumper with 35 seconds to play as the Kutztown University women's basketball team withstood a strong second half run by Mansfield University in a 69-64 win Wednesday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Decker Gymnasium.

Kutztown literally stole the victory from the Mountaineers, producing a school-record 22 steals throughout the game and holding back the late Mansfield scoring flood as the Golden Bears improve to a four-game winning streak. The previous record was 21 against Cheyney in 1997.

The Golden Bears (4-2, 2-0 PSAC East) opened up a strong lead off a 12-0 run fueled by Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape). She scored 10 of the team's 12 points in the run with four layups in a 2:30 span to help Kutztown to an 18-10 lead.

The run escalated to 19-2 as Kutztown led 25-12 midway through the first half. The lead remained in double figures for the remainder of the half as Kutztown led 38-22 at the break. The Golden Bear defense forced 19 turnovers in the first half, the most in a half for KU this season.

Mansfield (0-6, 0-3) responded strongly out of the locker room with a full court press and a 19-8 run to open the half, cutting its deficit to five at 46-41 at the 11:35 mark of the second half.

Later in the half with Kutztown leading by nine, Mansfield sparked a quick 8-0 run in less than two minutes to bring the game within one (54-53). KU began to slip away again, until Megan McSwain nailed a trey to tie the game at 56.

With under a minute to play, Mansfield gained its first lead of the game (64-63) since the 15:27 mark in the first half. That quickly dissipated as Donahue's jumper put the Golden Bears back on top. KU sank its final four free throws to grab the 69-64 victory.

Harvey's season-high 19 points led the way for the Golden Bears. Campbell knocked down 14 points in the win, while pocketing a career-high seven steals, two shy of the individual school-record..

Junior Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) continues to consistently produce from the floor, finishing with 12 points, four steals, and a team-leading nine rebounds. Donahue's go-ahead jumper rounded her off at eight points, while adding four boards and three steals. Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) tallied five assists, four steals, and her perfect 6-for-6 free-throw shooting proved critical in the win.

McSwain's inferno-hot tendencies in the second half almost torched the abundant Kutztown lead. Shut out in the first 20 minutes of play, McSwain rallied to score all 21 of her points in the second half, going 3-for-4 from downtown and hitting all six of her foul shots. KU did a top-notch job at containing the Mountaineers leading scorer Katie Fitzpatrick, limiting the sophomore to eight points and two rebounds.

Kutztown will continue its PSAC East play when it takes on West Chester University at home on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
