GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team fell to Glenville State in its second game of the season, a 111-78 defeat at Jesse R. Lilly Gym on Saturday night.
The Golden Bears (0-2) were outshot against a solid Glenville State squad (2-0), falling behind in the first half, unable to make up the deficit in the second half.
Junior forward
Nicole Donahue (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) led the way for the Golden Bear offense, scoring 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting. She was also second on the team with 11 rebounds.
Junior guard
Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton Area) contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.
Freshman
Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) had another big game on the boards off the bench for KU, leading the team with 13 boards. She was only able to convert three of her field goal attempts, finishing with six points.
Star guard
Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) was held at bay in the defeat, shooting 3-for-8, but making all three of her free throws for 10 points, while dishing out four assists and grabbing three steals.
Freshman
Jess Harvey (Barnegat, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) led the Golden Bears with six assists, while also contributing five points.
The Pioneers were led by solid scoring performances by Keyanna Tate's 28 points and Kenyona Simmons' 25 points.
Kutztown will have a week off until traveling to the City of Brotherly Love for a 2 p.m. match up against Philadelphia University on Saturday, Nov. 16.
