Box Score 2 WILMINGTON, Del.
– After a tough losing match against Pace University (3-0), Kutztown turned the day around and finished the second day of the Wildcat Invitational at Wilmington University with an afternoon win against Concord (3-2).
Pace defeated KU in three straight matches (25-20, 25-21, 25-20).
The Setters held the kill advantage with a total of 44. Kutztown ended the game with 28 kills, with
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) in the lead for KU with 7. Kim Gomber and
Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) made a combined total of 25 assists for KU, while
Emily Heppler (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) was the dig leader with 14 digs.
During the second match of the day, Kutztown and Concord were neck and neck in the first two sets. KU fell 21-25 in the first set, and won 25-22 in the second. The close competition continued on for the next two set with Kutztown losing 18-25 in the third set, and winning 25-18 in the fourth. The Golden Bears took the victory over the Lions in the fifth set with a winning score of 15-12.
Braga had a double-double, leading the Golden Bears with 17 kills and 24 digs against the Lions.
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) also had a double-double with 14 kills and 23 digs. Harman was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts in all four matches over the weekend.
Gomber held the high for assists with 25, while Wright made 17.
The Golden Bears will travel to Shippensburg on September 14 and 15 for the PSAC/WVIAC Challenge.
