Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – A late second-half goal by freshman
Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) proved to be all the Golden Bears needed in a 1-0 victory Wednesday afternoon, as they traveled to East Stroudsburg to take on the Warriors.
The Warriors, behind Division II top five scorers Ally Roth and Jessica Lawville, were held in check as eight first half shots could not find the back of the net, while Kutztown registered a total of four.
In the second half, the Golden Bears played inspired hockey, outshooting ESU, 12-4. After a shot from
Jenna Gregory (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg), East Stroudsburg's Sarah Dobroskey made the save, but Behm was ready to bury the game's lone goal with 14:35 left to play in regulation.
Behm's goal, the first of her collegiate career, gave the Maroon and Gold its first win in East Stroudsburg since 2008.
The Golden Bears outshot East Stroudsburg on the afternoon, 16-12, and was awarded nine penalty corners, while ESU had seven.
Grabbing the win between the pipes for Kutztown was senior
Karly Waltman (Birdsboro, PA/Twin Valley) who made three saves all in the first half as the Warriors' Sarah Dobroskey took the loss with 10 saves.
The Golden Bears will stay on the road for their next contest as they travel to LIU Post on Friday to take on the Pioneers for a 4:00 p.m. start.
