Field Hockey Drops Road Game to Millersville, 3-0

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's field hockey team lost to Millersville on Tuesday afternoon, 3-0, at Biemesderfer Stadium. Senior Karly Waltman (Birdsboro, PA/Twin Valley) posted nine saves on the day as the Marauders tallied 17 total shots.
 
The Golden Bears fell behind in the first half when Millersville's Ashley Webber netted the first goal of the game to take a one-goal advantage into the break. After halftime, the Marauders went back to work, racking up 11 shots in the second half. Goals by Sarah Bomberger and Paige Morrison put the game out of reach, making the score 3-0 at the final whistle.
 
Picking up the loss in net for KU was Waltman who stopped nine shots, while Lauren Sotzin got the win for Millersville making five saves.
 
The Marauders held an advantage in the shot department, 17-9, and created seven penalty corners to Kutztown's five.
 
The Maroon and Gold will return to action on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they play their home opener against Seton Hill on University Field.
