No. 21 Kutztown to Travel to No. 12 Bloomsburg

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University football team faces its second straight nationally ranked opponent with a road trip to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division rival Bloomsburg.  KU is rated 21st this week by the American Football Coaches Association, while the Huskies check in at No. 12.

Despite a 38-point run by the Golden Bears against California (Pa.), Kutztown fell in a 48-45 shootout on University Field Saturday evening. Senior quarterback Kevin Morton (Abington, PA/Abington) highlighted the night with his 359 yards through the air and four touchdowns.
 
Morton's impressive senior season continued last week with another 350-plus yard performance to give him 768 yards and 10 passing touchdowns in the first two games to pace the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
 
On the outside for Morton, senior Colby Tuell (Columbia, PA/Columbia) has put together a solid start, hauling in 17 passes for 219 yards and four scores. Tuell registered 10 catches last week en route to a 121-yard game with two touchdowns. Morton's next most targeted receiver is senior Josh Mastromatto (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin). Mastromatto has amassed 137 yards on 13 receptions, including three for touchdowns. He has seen time in both his backfield position and in the slot.
 
Next to Morton in the backfield will be Mastromatto and junior Curtis Wortham (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge). Wortham leads the team in rushing, averaging over 11 yards per carry. He has gone for 133 yards and two scores this season. Mastromatto averages 42 yards per game as he has reached the end zone once on the ground in 2012.
 
Last week sophomore English Peay (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) saw a lot of action on his side of the field, making 15 tackles, including one for a three-yard loss. Sophomore Sam Dixon-Dugan was the only other Golden Bear to reach double digit tackles on the evening, racking up 12 of his own.
 
The front seven will its work cut out for them, facing the top rushing opponent in the PSAC after the first two weeks of play. The group has done a good job so far in the first two contests, allowing 109 yards per game on the ground which is good for sixth in the conference. Junior Zach Greenwald (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro) leads all defensive linemen with 12 tackles and two tackles for loss. Behind him at the linebacker position, senior Matt Connors (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) will be in the middle of the defense. Connors has made eight tackles in the past two weeks and intercepted one pass against California (Pa.). 
 
As for the Huskies, they come into Saturday with two wins against Stonehill (44-28) and Edinboro (30-14).
 
Leading the charge for the Huskies will be a powerful running game which features two junior running backs that average over 100 yards per game on the ground. Franklyn Quiteh leads the PSAC in rushing with 176 yards per game, while Eddie Mateo is third with 131. The dynamic duo has also combined to score five touchdowns on the ground.
 
Calling the signals for BU is redshirt freshman Tim Kelly. The freshman has had a solid start to his collegiate career, completing over half of his passes for 288 yards, two scores and no interceptions.
 
Kelly has done a good job spreading the ball around to his receivers as he has hit three different targets five times. Senior Kyle Fisher paces the group with 99 yards and one score. Senior Matt Marchioni has chipped in for 67 yards and a score, while junior Glenn Hutton Jr. has 39 yards.
 
On the defensive end of the field, Bloomsburg will make some plays. The secondary is second in the conference with five interceptions, while the defensive line has helped them tie for first with seven sacks. Senior lineman Larry Webster and Shaun Moore each have three sacks apiece for the Huskies up front.
