KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team mounted a terrific second half comeback but was unable to overcome a strong opening half from Slippery Rock as KU dropped a 12-6 decision in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action at Keystone Field Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Bears (4-9 overall, 1-7 PSAC) were ousted by The Rock's (7-4, 4-4) eight unanswered goals in the first thirty minutes.  KU outscored SRU 6-4 in the second half including a pair of goals from 
Rosa Buffolino (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp) (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe Township) and 
Leeann Pica (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy).
 
Pica's first goal came just under two minutes into the second half to open the scoring for KU.  The goal was the senior's 18th of the year and was off an assist from 
Lauren Schlitt (Baldwin, NY/Oceanside) (Baldwin, NY/Oceanside).  Schlitt is second on the team with six assists.
 
Emily Solt (Bowmanstown, PA/Concord) (Bowmanstown, Pa./Concord) and 
Victoria Rost (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) also scored for KU in the second half.  Solt scored KU's second goal of the game at the 16:58 mark, and Rost's goal came in the final two minutes of the game with a man advantage.
 
Pica was active all game as she not only netted a pair of goals, but picked up a game-high six groundballs.  She also had two draw controls.
 
Megan Schwar (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg) (Alpha, NJ/Philipsburg) also had two draw controls while tallying four groundballs.
 
Sophomore 
JoAnn McLaughlin (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape) (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape) made 11 saves in goal for the Golden Bears. 
 
Amy Halls led The Rock with three goals and an assist.  Nine different players scored for SRU as Lauren Laubach was the only with multi-goal scorer with two.  The Rock finished with advantages of 32-19 in total shots, 23-16 in shots on goal, 32-26 in ground balls and 12-8 in draw controls.
 
Natalie Crenshaw picked up the win in goal for Slippery Rock and made seven saves while allowing two goals before giving way to Elizabeth Byrne.
 
Kutztown returns to action on Tuesday Apr. 17 for its final road game of the season.  KU travels to Dobbs Ferry, NY to face Mercy College for a non-conference contest set to begin at 4 p.m.
