KUTZTOWN, Pa. (February 8, 2012)—Freshman
Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) (Mount Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) of the Kutztown University women's basketball team recorded her first double-double despite KU falling 66-53 to West Chester University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division game at Hollinger Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.
Campbell led the Golden Bears (6-17 overall, 4-13 PSAC) with a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Campbell displayed her versatility all over the court as she recorded three assists and a pair of steals and blocks over the Golden Rams (6-15 overall, 12-5 PSAC).
Sophomore
Avery Hodgson (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) (Surf City, NJ/ Southern Regional) finished with 12 points all of which she scored in the second half. This marks her 12th time this season scoring in double figures for the Golden Bears.
After trailing 31-23 at halftime, freshman
Aly York (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) (Douglassville, PA/ Daniel Boone) hit back-to-back jumpers to pull KU within eight, with West Chester leading 35-27 with 18 minutes, 20 seconds left.
Alex Lennon's game-high 21 points with a 9-for-13 shooting performance from the field was hard to stop as she led West Chester's offensive and defensive attack. Lennon grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Lennon drained a jumper with 16:54 left that pushed the Golden Rams to a 37-27 advantage where they led by double figures for the rest of the game.
Also scoring in double figures for West Chester was Allison Hostetter who finished with 10 points and a game-high six assists.
Lennon opened the game by activating a 6-0 run with 18:37 remaining that featured 10 points all from Lennox to push West Chester to an early 10-0 lead with 16:43 remaining. Kutztown responded with a 5-0 run at the 15:51 mark with a pair of free throws from junior
Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) (Limerick, PA/ Spring-Ford) and capped by a 3-pointer from
Andrea Sisson (Richmond, VA/Godwin) (Richmond, VA/ Godwin) to cut West Chester's lead to 10-8 with 12:46 left.
WCU took advantage of turnovers as it scored 29 points off 30 Kutztown turnovers.
Kutztown returns back to action when it travels to Millersville University on Saturday, Feb. 11 for a PSAC East game, tipping off at 1 p.m.
