KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
The Kutztown University men's basketball team has already achieved some great accolades this season.  It has the chance to add to its list of accomplishments on Tuesday as it moves into the postseason.

During the regular season, KU tallied a ten game winning streak, scored the most points in a game in nearly four years (108), had six PSAC Athlete of the Week selections, had one of the top scoring duo's in Division II, had a player flirt with a triple-double on multiple occasions, and had a game-winning buzzer-beater receive national recognition from ESPN.  All these highlights need to be put aside however, as the new task at hand is a conference championship.

The Golden Bears (18-8, 15-7) will renew their rivalry with East Stroudsburg (17-11, 13-9) Tuesday night in a rematch of last year's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division quarterfinal.  KU is making its tenth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament as tipoff at Keystone Arena Tuesday night is set for 7 p.m.

Kutztown won its third Eastern Division title in the past five years on Saturday.  The win over Ship also gave KU its 15th conference win of the season, the most in school history.  KU will be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs as the Warriors represent the No. 4 seed.

The two teams split their season series with each team winning on the road.  KU won, 75-61, on Jan. 14 at Koehler Fieldhouse, but ESU holds the latest advantage as it took a 93-86 decision in double overtime to end KU's ten game winning streak.  Since Dec. 30, KU is 14-3 and will head into Tuesday's matchup with a four game winning streak.  ESU is 2-3 in its last five games, and holds a slight lead in the all-time series, 76-74.

It is the 18th overall trip to the PSAC playoffs for Kutztown.  The Golden Bear playoff streak of ten is the longest of any conference school.  KU will be looking for some revenge on the Warriors as last year's quarterfinal defeat broke a two-year string of championship game appearances.

The Warriors are one of two teams to make the PSAC semifinals in each of the last two seasons.  It is also their sixth tournament appearance in the past seven years.

The Golden Bears beat Shippensburg in its season finale, 90-77, and East Stroudsburg beat Cheyney, 77-66.

A win on Tuesday would be KU head coach Bernie Driscoll's 200th of his career.  He is already the winningest coach in KU history and has had ten straight winning seasons.

In the first matchup, KU held ESU to 27.5 percent shooting from the field, its lowest of the season.  Senior forward Eric Brennan (Chester, PA/West Catholic) (Chester, PA/West Catholic) filled up the stat sheet for the Golden Bears.  He grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds while chipping in 13 points, seven assists, and three steals. He leads the team with 11 double-doubles on the season.  Micah Fraction (Macungie, PA/Montrose Christian) (Macungie, PA/Montrose Christian) dropped a game-high 20 points as Nate Edwards (Philadelphia, PA/North Catholic) (Philadelphia, PA/North Catholic) and Devon McBride (Richmond, VA/Hill School) (Richmond, VA/Hill School) also finished in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively.  The Warriors were led by senior Russell Graham's 16 points, including an 8-for-10 performance at the free throw line, and freshman Whis Grant's 12 points.

The second matchup featured 18 lead changes and 16 ties in the double overtime affair.  ESU's Matt Tobin scored 11 of the team's 13 points in the second OT and proved to be the difference maker.  Duane Johnson tallied a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds as five Warriors finished in double figures.  Edwards and Fraction each scored 21 for KU on Feb. 4.  McBride (18), Brennan (14), and sophomore Tyler Brooks (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (10) rounded out the five double digit scorers for KU.

McBride leads four Kutztown players in double figures with 20.1 per game, good for second in the conference.  He is third in the PSAC and first in the East in 3-pointers made (59), and is fourth in the league in percentage from beyond the arc (.431).  He's also third on the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game.

Edwards is tied for third in the conference in scoring (18.7) after his 20-point performance against Ship on Saturday.  He enters the contest ninth on the KU all-time scoring list with 1,292 in his career.  Edwards is also fourth in the PSAC in free throw percentage (.857) and second in steals (2.08).

Brennan, a two-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week this season, ranks third in the league in rebounding (9.5).  He's also averaging 13.8 points per game, is the top defensive rebounder in the PSAC (6.50), and second in assist/turnover ratio (2.00).

Brennan (34.77), Edwards (33.77), and McBride (33.25) all rank in the top six in the East in minutes played per game.

KU and ESU are the top scoring teams in the league at 82.7 and 79.1 points per game, respectively.  The teams are very comparable in most categories.  Each school is averaging nearly 38 rebounds per game, and is holding opponents to around 44 percent shooting.  KU holds the advantage at the charity stripe and is second in the PSAC at 76.3 percent.  ESU is converting on 71.5 percent of its attempts.

ESU has won three of the last four games against Kutztown.  Grant is the team's top scorer at 14 per game.  The 3-point specialist has 52 long range buckets in his freshman campaign and is fifth in the PSAC in percentage (.430).  Also averaging double figures are Graham (12.4), Johnson (12.3), and junior Terrance King (11.8).  King leads the Warriors on the boards at 6.5 per contest.  Johnson is grabbing 6.1 per game.

In the other half of the PSAC East bracket, No. 3 seed West Chester (17-9, 14-8) has won eight straight and 11 of its last 12 going into Tuesday's game at No. 2 Bloomsburg (19-8, 15-7).

The PSAC West bracket has No. 1 IUP (22-4, 19-3) hosting No. 4 California (17-11, 14-8) and No. 2 Mercyhurst (17-9, 15-7) hosting No. 3 Slippery Rock (17-9, 14-8).

The four remaining teams after the quarterfinals will meet at the top remaining seed in the PSAC East for the Final Four, which will be held Friday and Saturday (March 2-3).
