Kutztown's defense left the Red Raiders scoreless for over three minutes until Shippensburg tied the game 37-37 with a jumper from Wert.

As minutes began to roll off the clock, KU and Shippensburg went back and forth making baskets. The Red Raiders never saw their lead snatched but a pair of free throw shots from Wood with 8:39 remaining would pull KU within reach to Ship's 47-46 lead. The Red Raiders used an 8-1 run to extend the lead to 10 and carried a 58-48 advantage with 5:46 left to play.

Kutztown was unable to cut the lead as Shippensburg controlled the final minutes of the game.
