Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Falling behind in the first half, the Kutztown University field hockey team could not overcome an early offensive explosion from No. 1 West Chester as it fell, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.

It took five shots and nearly 12 minutes of action for the Golden Rams to get their first goal as senior Karly Waltman (Birdsboro, PA/Twin Valley) turned away numerous opportunities to keep the score even. After Kelsi Lyken's first goal, the Rams keep rolling as Kayla Gluchowski and Courtney Wolff were able to each slip one past the keeper, taking a three-goal advantage after the first 35 minutes of play.

Coming out of the break, the Golden Bears struggled to get their offense going as they recorded just one shot in the second half. WCU's Michele Schrift scored the other two goals of the afternoon while the last one came in the final minute of regulation.

The Maroon and Gold had a tough time getting to West Chester's Kristin Arnold in net who owns an .825 goals against average, which is third in Division II. WCU outshot Kutztown, 26-2, on the day and held an advantage in penalty corners, 10-1.

With the loss in net, Waltman falls to 3-8 on the season, posting a season-high 17 saves. Making two saves, Kristin Arnold picked up her 10th win between the pipes for West Chester.

The Golden Bears return home after a three-game road swing to play three on University Field. Kutztown is set to host Millersville (10/6), East Stroudsburg (10/9) and LIU Post (10/13).
