Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University won the final three sets to notch a 3-2 win at East Stroudsburg in PSAC East action.
The Warriors won the first two sets 25-18 and 27-25 before the Golden Bears rebounded with victories of 25-21 and 26-24 to force a fifth set. KU would claim the set and the match with a 16-14 win in the decisive fifth set.
A dominant net defense produced 22 blocks and forced ESU into 39 attack errors in the match.
Brianna Risch (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) led Kutztown with six blocks, while
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and
Nicole Brumbley (Oxford, PA/Oxford) had five apiece and
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) added four.
Risch and Stringer tied for the team lead with nine kills each.
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) notched eight kills and paced the Golden Bears with 15 digs. Harman had 11 digs and a team-high three aces.
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) led the team with 19 assists and
Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) dished out 17 and had 10 digs.
The Warriors Kaitlin Behrens had 70 attack attempts and produced 27 kills, but also 19 errors.
The Golden Bears had just 17 attack errors as a team in the match.
Annabelle Charlton had 34 assists and 22 digs for ESU.
Kutztown hosts Holy Family on October 23 at 7 p.m. at Keystone Arena.
