KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's volleyball picked up its first sweep in conference play, defeating Millersville in straight sets Friday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match.
 
The Golden Bears, who improved to 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC East, won by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-19. It is their second straight conference victory, rallying to take down Bloomsburg in five sets last weekend. All three PSAC matches have been on the road.
 
Kutztown was dominant from a numbers perspective Friday on both sides of the net. KU held a 43-26 advantage in kills, a 40-24 edge in assists and had 59 digs to the Marauders (3-8, 0-4) 40.
 
Both Paige Skinner (Placerville, Calif./Ponderosa) and Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) finished just shy of double-doubles. Skinner ended the night with 12 kills and nine digs, while Bogovic had nine kills and 11 digs. Grace White (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) and Jaedyn Bartholomew (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) both recorded seven kills and a block and Ellie White (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) tallied six kills and two blocks. Abby Polo (Coventry, Conn./Coventry) contributed 19 assists and Emma Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) added 18 assists and four digs. Defensively, Saige Thibodeaux (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker) led the way with 21 digs and Julia Riley (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) totaled nine.
 
In the opening set, the Maroon and Gold trailed by as many as five points (11-6) and remained behind up until it was 22-19 late. But six unanswered points gave the visitors the opening set win as White and Skinner combined for five kills. In the second set, KU trailed 14-13 midway through, but scored five of the next six points and held the lead the rest of the way before a Bogovic kill and Millersville attack error allowed Kutztown to take the 2-0 advantage. In the third set, the Golden Bears dropped the first point, but that was the last time they would trail the rest of the way and Baldridge capped off three consecutive points with a service ace to finish off the match.
 
Kutztown will compete in a non-conference match at St. Thomas Aquinas tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m.
